A new customer to Nytech called to schedule a furnace and air conditioner tune-up. While completing the furnace maintenance, our technician discovered that their 2002 furnace was having several issues. Included in this was a failing draft motor, low flame sensor, testing at a high limit, and overheating, which is often a sign of a bad heat exchanger (and bad/cracked heat exchangers are major safety concerns). Due to the condition of the system and the cost of repairs, a replacement was recommended, and a replacement proposal was scheduled for later that same day. Nytech installed a new 80% Lennox furnace. We also installed a new clean Aerus Air Scrubber air filter system and installed new ductwork. We ran previous supply runs to the new Plenum. This new system is backed by our our Golden Guarantees.
A longtime Total Care Club customer of Nytech with 7 furnace systems (yes, you read that right – 7 furnaces) of varying age was having their annual furnace maintenance done when the techs discovered that one of their older furnaces had advanced heat exchange breaches, so the system needed to be shut down and the gas valve and power disconnected. Because of this safety hazard, the system needed to be replaced and an HVAC proposal appointment was scheduled for a furnace replacement. Our techs replaced the old furnace with a Lennox EL296E High-Efficiency, Two-Stage Gas Furnace and replaced the thermostat too. Our customer can enjoy this dual-fuel system that is Energy Star qualified with Power Saver technology that is all backed by our Golden Guarantees.
Our customer called for a service because the pilot light on the boiler would not say lite and reported a dirty exhaust-like smell when the system was running. Our technician performed a thorough diagnosis and found a Carbon Monoxide leak and additional issues with the firing system. After presenting the repair options, our customer decided that due to the age and efficiency of the system, replacement would be their best option. We installed a Modulating condensing boiler with a water heater combination. Boilers are very efficient and reliable our customer will enjoy years of dependable heating.
A new homeowner was having issues getting their home to heat evenly, they thought their house was zoned and the basement wasn’t heating very well. They also wanted to get their Nest Thermostat installed, so they called us up for a repair and service call. We arrived on the job and went through zone system and not only found that the nest thermostat wouldn’t work with this zone system, but the zone system would not operate at all with a sensi thermostats too. We tried to troubleshoot and add in different source of 24vand still couldn’t get system to operate. Due to age of equipment and cost of repairs, we recommend upgrading and replacement and the customer agreed. Nytech installed a new Lennox High Efficiency, Single-Stage Furnace and Honeywell zoning board along with the Nest thermostat. We removed the old equipment, added new venting for flue, wired in Honeywell zoning board along with bypass dampers. Lastly, we tested the equipment to manufacture specifications and showed the new homeowner all disconnects, shut off valves and switches, along with where to change their filters, so they were all set and good to go with their new system.
A Total Care Club member of ours called for a less-common service call, they were starting to see cracks in their hardwood floors and didn’t think the humidity seemed right in the home. We arrived on the scene and found their humidifier had somehow been turned off. We turned it back on, along with the furnace it was attached to and the furnace immediately began making a grinding noise from the draft motor. Because of the age of the system (15 years old), the homeowner was worried about the furnace going out and wanted to get both a repair and replacement quote, which was scheduled for later that same day. We replaced their furnace with a new Lennox Standard Efficiency, Multi-Stage, Variable Speed Furnace and Sensi Touch Wifi thermostat. This included removing the old unit and setting the new unit into the existing return box sealed up with silicone. We reset the coil and ensured it had proper pitch for draining, rewired in all high and low voltages, redid the gas line, and redid the flue adding a new b-vent wye. We ran a combustion analysis and static pressure test to ensure safe and efficient operation, and this new furnace is covered by all of our guarantees.
